A New Norwalk High

Change that’s going to affect us next year.

A New Norwalk High

We all know and love Norwalk High. However, are we ready for change? Starting in 2023 after the Norwalk High football season construction of the new Norwalk High is going to begin. However this also up brings many questions. Where will spring sports play? Where will class of 2024 graduate? What will happen with the murals and trophy displays?  Where will students and staff park, and so much more.

“We will likely have to play at McMahon. The biggest issue with us playing everything at Nathan Hale is the parking issue.”

— Mr. Marchetti

One of the major issues that class of 2024 is going to face is where they will graduate. There are rumors saying that they will graduate in the auditorium, in the gym, or even at McMahon. However, the truth is that we don’t know yet, stating Mr. Couture. He is one of the organizers for graduation. As for spring sports the athletes will play at Nathan Hale or even McMahon. This could be inconvenient and difficult for students to find rides to practice. Along with not having any home games at Norwalk High. “We will likely have to play at McMahon. The biggest issue with us playing everything at Nathan Hale is the parking issue.” Says Mr. Marchetti, the athletic director. He also said that nobody knows about the parking situation for next year. The softball field will turn into a standing area for the trucks and machines, therefore we don’t know how much of the parking area will be affected.

However, a question at is yet to be answered is what will happen to the murals on the ways of Norwalk High. We can’t transport them to the new building because we are getting rid of the walls. There are many ideas at people come up with such as taking pictures of the murals and hanging them up in the new building. It wont’ be the same, however there’s not much we can do.   This process could be frustrating and difficult however the outcome is amazing. The new model of Norwalk High is bigger and better than the one we have now, unfortunately we will have to take some sacrifices in order for this to happen.
