The Cogs In The Machine Producing Sports Media

Ether on the sidelines doing a football game or in the studio doing media day these are the unsung hero’s of the sidelines. Sports photographers don’t get enough credit they deserve. At least one is at every game either is boys ice hockey or girls soccer in the fall there is a photographer for every sport.

Photographers are students that take time out of their days to film or take pictures of people whether it’s construction workers to athletes, even just memories. There is the back bone of media because without pictures or motion pictures or even just captured moments you can’t add the lively element to stories.

It’s not just something they have to do but they want to do it. Photography can be calming and enjoyable to the people who love it. Here at NHS there are dedicated photographers, one photographer who shows this is Lianne Duncan, she said “I started because I would shadow one of my friends for fun and then I really enjoyed it so then I started on my ownjorey as a photagrapher, I started last winter during basketball season”. Another reliable and dedicated photographer is Julia Kaczynska. She said “I enjoy photography for specific sports. I grew up taking photos with my dad so I’ve been doing it all my life and the camera I used was older than me.” lastly we asked the most important question how do you balance school, sports and photography and Hailey Ermo said “school work came first because thats the most important, then sports witch can help me in a way because I can see what people playing a sport for example if I think to my self “this would be a good photo” then I can put that into consideration with the next photos I take, but yeah after everything is dealt with I would focus on photography.”

Without these photographers these moments wouldn’t be captured and would just be a lost memory now with them these photos are here forever.
