From the Sandbox to Senior Year

A snapshot into the Norwalk Girls lacrosse seniors who have grew up together. From little girls running around on the sidelines to leaders stepping onto the field for one last season. Through every practice, bus ride, win, and loss, their friendships became more than just teammates, they became family.

From sandbox days to senior nights, the story of the Norwalk girls’ lacrosse seniors is about more than just the game. It’s about growing up together. Before the bright lights, packed sidelines, and varsity jerseys, they were little girls running barefoot through the grass, tossing lacrosse balls on the sidelines while watching older players they hoped to become someday. They spent summers at the beach building sandcastles, laughing until sunset, and dreaming about the day they would finally wear “Norwalk” across their chests.

Years later, those dreams became reality. What started as carpools to youth practices and shy introductions turned into something much bigger. Through early morning workouts, freezing practices, long bus rides, heartbreaking losses, and unforgettable wins, this group of girls built a bond that went far beyond lacrosse. They learned how to trust each other, push each other, and stand beside one another no matter the scoreboard.

Caitlin Dudek, “As my older sister grew up with these girls, so did I. They are teammates on and off the field. They have been working all season, and it is paying off.

Every season brought new memories — singing on the bus after big victories, pregame nerves in the locker room, team dinners, inside jokes nobody else would understand, and the feeling of stepping onto the field together knowing they always had each other’s backs. Over time, teammates became best friends, and best friends became family

Diana Cappuccia, “These girls have had a special bond since they were just in elementary school. It is such a cool thing to see them all still playing together this many years later. I wish them all the best as they continue through life

Now, as seniors, they take the field for one final season together. The same girls who once looked up to the older players are now the leaders who younger teammates admire. They carry years of memories with them every time they lace up their cleats — memories of childhood, friendship, and the sport that connected them all.

Their story isn’t just about goals scored or games won. It’s about growing up side by side. It’s about the friendships formed in the little moments between practices and games. And while this season may be their last together wearing the same jersey, the bond they built will last long after the final whistle blows.
Because for the Norwalk Girls Lacrosse seniors, it all started in the sandbox — and ended with a family.
