The 3rd Annual NHS Celebrity Dinner is a fundraiser event that helps support Norwalk High school athletics. The event is led by Mr. Laughton and Mr. Marchetti with the help of Mr. Seaburg, Mr. Ireland, Mr. Lepoutre, Mr. & Mrs. Turner, Mr. & Mrs. Mitchell. This brings together students, parents, and members of the community. At the dinner, former NHS athletes and graduates comeback to celebrate the school and share their experiences. This year, the event celebrated the 2000 Norwalk High Women’s state championship team and their amazing achievements.
The keynote speaker for the event was Tanya Rhodes Small, a former Norwalk High Athlete, counselor, and a member of the 2000 championship team. During the dinner, she spoke about her time at Norwalk High and what it meant to be apart of a state championship team. Her speech helped inspire our current student-athletics and reminded everyone how important hard work and teamwork are in sports.
Student – athletes also volunteered to help run the event. They were waiters and waitresses, getting food ready, cleaning, taking trash out, and escorting guests. To raise as much money as possible, there was a competition between the athletes to see which team could bring the most parents to the dinner. This helped get more people to attend and support the fundraiser. Overall, the 3rd Annual NHS Celebrity Dinner was a great way to celebrate Norwalk’s athletic history and raise money for the future of Norwalk High Sports and did so by raising over 16 thousand dollars.
