Setbacks are apart of sports sometimes a setback must occur for a player to move forward. This was not just a normal setback, it’s one that had Samuel Mojica sidelined for 3 months. Samuel sadly toar his ACL vs New Haven back in November 5th, 2024. People think that after tearing their ACL their playing career is over. For some that might be true but when you’re dedicated and will to put in time and effort into coming back then anything is possible. He was forced to go into rehab which is a difficult time for any player but he stayed strong mentally.He had people to back him up something that helped him get past this difficult moment. I remember there were even times Samuel would come to team lifts knowing he can’t do what we would do, but you would always see him in the corner putting his head down and working on his recovery journey. From small lunges to squatting with weight you could see him getting better.
After hard work Samuel was able to come back to the field at the begging of last summer.Samuel was back working hard and showing leadership on the field. You could always count Samuel being there from fitness training to practices with the team he would be there putting in work. He might not be the loudest on the field but you can count that he’s there working hard and leading by example.
Teammate Gabe Young says how Samuel has helped him on and off the field. Sophomore Gabe said Samuels leadership has motivated him to work harder, He says “He’s not the loudest but he’s always putting in a shift and playing his part.”
Since Samuel Mojica has been back he’s been pushing himself day in and day out and his hard work has been paying off. In our very first game of the season he scored 1 goal and got 1 assist in a 2-1 win vs Wilton. The season has just started but Samuel is willing to put it all on the line to succeed is only a matter of time until Samuel Mojica reaps the reward of all his hard work.
