Softball is an amazing sport to play, you could lean so much so quick. Softball is more a mental sport, you think more about how good you are or what do I need to work on to get better or that there is always someone behind you putting in more work to take your spot. These 5 seniors has work hard to get where they are now. They are always putting in work and getting better every day and every second. Softball will not be the same without them next year we will all miss them very much and I hope they all have a amazing 4 years in colleges
Sofia Halon is a senior at Norwalk High and is going to Marist University to study Early Childhood Education. Sofia have been apart of the softball program for 4 years but she did quit middle of the season during her sophomore year. She been playing since she was 6 years old and it was because of her parents. A challenge she faced a lot of how people were underestimating her because of her height and people think that she not that the level everyone else is on. She going to miss all the memories and friendships she create with teammates and how close she got with everyone on the team. Sofia said softball taught her “To not give up, you can have good days and bad days in the sport but always to a clean mind set”.
Ally Lanzarotto is a senior at Norwalk High and is going to Pennsylvania State University to study Advertising. Ally have been apart of the softball program for all 4 years. She started playing softball when she was 5 years old and it was because of her older sister played and she want to follow in her sister foot steps. A challenge she faced was how she join travel and played for about 7 years and how softball be came no longer fun and how it became a mental burden to have to show up to tournaments and game for different coach and to work harder and harder and put in lots of work to be better than the girl nexts to you. She going to miss all the friendships she made and all the people she met throughout softball Ally said softball taught her “That there is more to life than sports. It’s more important to be a well rounded person who has goals and dreams outside of sports because sports are not a permanent in your life.”
Emily Restaino is a senior at Norwalk High and is going to Stetson University to study Marketing. Emily have been apart of the softball program for all 4 years. She started playing when she was 5 years old and it was because she grew up surrounded by baseball because her father is a college baseball coach which is inspired her to play softball.A challenge she faced was her freshman year she didn’t start on varsity but she worked hard every day by going in the back yard to hit and going to the cage to hit with her travel coach and it make her grew in the player she is today and earn her starting spot on varsity. She going to miss to relationships she developed with her teacher and peers. but she going how softball has always been the best time of the school year and spending it with her amazing teammates makes it 10 times better. Emily said softball taught her “How much teamwork and communication is important. It takes a team to win, not just one person. When your teammates have your back,it makes you feel good inside. Softball teaches you many lessons, but in life you are always going to need to know how communicate and work with other.
Madelyn Yusi is a senior at Norwalk High and is going to Wheaton College to study business and is also going to play softball there too. Madelyn have been apart of the softball program for all 4 years. She started playing when she was 9 and it was because her mom played her whole life and she want to follow her mom foot steps. A challenge she faced was getting injured 3 games into her seniors year and not being able to finish the season with the girls that she played with since she was 10. She going to miss the connection and bonds between her and the team and how to the team relationships are not just on the field but also off the field and how there always been great chemistry between the team and how it helps them performance on the field. Madelyn said softball taught her “To push myself farther than what I believe is my full potential and to be more grateful for everything I have. It is a privilege to be able to play and care so much about the sport.”
Madison Collins is a senior at Norwalk High and is going to Itaca College to study Elementary Education and is also going to play softball there too. Madison have been apart of the softball program for all 4 years. She sated playing when she was 5 and it was because of her dad who loved the game and pushed her to be the best she can be. A challenge she faced was preforming in front of hundreds of college coaches while she was trying to be recruited. She going to miss is being in and going to the pep rallys and she also going to miss going and supporting all the other teams in Norwalk High. Madison said softball taught her “Is how you push through failure and learn from it.”
