Brendan Flaherty and Brock Newman are seniors here at Norwalk High, and are members of the Boys Varsity Cross Country Team. But they are more than just teammates. Brock and Brendan met each other in sixth grade when they had both joined a track club, but it would take until the start of high school for them to connect. Since freshman year, Brock and Brendan have been best friends, but that friendship is reflected in no place better then when they are running. They are constantly going back and forth on times, and even though they are on the same team, they are always competing to out-do one another, and in doing so set better and better times.
Brock and Brendan’s fierce rivalry has lead to countless races that end in overtakes. Brock said how on their most recent race, Brendan was leading for most of the race, until Brock passed him at the end. He said that their record was basically 50/50, showing how close their races can get. Brock and Brendan will be looking into schools like Lehigh University and UConn, and are deciding if after their senior year they want to continue their tenure into college together. In the end, the bond formed by running between these two competitors is obvious, and they plan on running right into their future beyond Norwalk High.
