Norwalk High School Girls’ Volleyball started their season on August 31st. Their team is led by 4 senior captains Maddie Collins, Ally Lanzarotto, Camilla Baker, and Ariya Peoples. All of the captains have been playing volleyball since freshman year which means they have rightfully earned there spot to lead the team going into this season. Although the girls have had a rough start to the season, they look bounce back in the second half with their final game being on October 23rd.
To put the season into a positive perspective, I asked senior captain Ariya Peoples about any funny team bonding moments so far this season, she told me “The entire season has been a blast, but one thing that we all really laugh about is the girls volleyball instagram. We started a girls volleyball account for Norwalk high and we post our annual Almost Gameday post which features funny pictures that we take and post of the team. Just something we find really funny and laugh about all the time”. You can follow girls volleyball @norwalkbearsgvb on Instagram.
The team is led by coach Eleni Tsaparakis who is a great leader and mentor for the entire team as all the captains told me. I asked freshman Alyna Thomas about how she feels coach Eleni is doing, “encouraging” is a word she strongly used. “She makes players feel welcome and never down about themselves”, Alyna is currently on the freshman team but has practiced and been apart of some varsity games as well.
To end off the interview, I asked Junior Varsity player Anessa Morris about what she thinks the teams best game of the season was. She answered immediately with, “Ludlowe”. She added “A come from behind win where our team was able to come together and fight the score”.
Girls Volleyball’s home games are as follows, 10/9 vs. Trumbull, 10/10 vs. McMahon & 10/16 vs. Greenwich. Come and support your Norwalk High Girls Volleyball team! Good luck rest of the season Girls!
