Tiago Morales is a junior at Norwalk High and this is his third year playing high school soccer as a center back. Tiago had played soccer almost his whole life, starting his journey when he was just three years old. He first got interested in the sport from watching games with his dad, from this he witnessed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play. Since then he has admired and looked up to them. His idols have shown that you need to push through your limits to be better at something, and that got him into the sport because he loves competing, being competitive, and being passionate about the game.
He started off his journey as a goal-scoring striker, but as he grew older, he expanded in height and build. His coaches would later on switch him into a center back and he did not fail to impress. With this new change, he first got nervous and was hesitant but looked like a natural on his first game playing in this position by stopping the offense left and right, and ever since that day he never looked back.
Tiago also experienced a lot of hardships with his journey as a soccer player. He has faced a lot of injuries during his career, including an ankle and a collarbone injury. In total, he has been out for 14 weeks. At first, he didn’t know if he was going to overcome these challenges because he’d been out for the major of the season, but when he came back the following season he tried his hardest to be the same player he was before getting injured and he succeded by gaining back his coaches trust and starting for his team.
He desires to become a pro soccer player by practicing every day and trying to improve on what he is struggling with by watching clips from previous games to see what he is lacking and even training on off days. This shows that Tiago’s passion for the sport is like a love story from never getting sick and tired of the game that he loves so much.
