After a very sucessful 2023 season, Norwalk Softball is rewarded with a fresh start. The program has hired a new head coach and 2 new assistant coaches. Head Varsity Coach Cary Nadel is coming from a very promising background with much experience. Coach Nadel is a Director of Scouting within the National Scouting Report. He was the head softball coach at Horace Greenly High School in Chappaqua, NY, and then became head softball coach at Brookfield High School in Brookfield, CT. Nadel has also been very sucessful as Fairfield Prep’s head ski team coach for the past 12 years. Nadel tells us how his main goal is to “create a new culture for Norwalk Bears Softball as one program consisting of Varsity and JV teams with fewer boundaries, all working together to bring Norwalk Softball to new heights of competition.” With that, Coach Nadel says that over the next two seasons he hopes to get into the FCIAC finals and State quaterfinals.

Assiting Coach Nadel at the varisty level is former Norwalk High School Softball player, Katie Sciglimpaglia. Coach Sciglimpaglia was very sucessful during her time at Norwalk High and then went on to play Division 1 softball at Saint Peter’s Univeristy where she was named captain. Sciglimpaglia also played for the Stratford Brakettes, a womens major fastpitch team out of Stratford, Connecticut. With her elaborate and and outstanding background and experience, Coach Katie’s goals are to help the team “love and appreciate the game of softball. I want everyone to learn to be competetive and have fun playing on a team.”

Coach Brie Muro is making her return on the Junior Varsity level. She was very sucessful in her four years as a player here and as assitant Varsity coach for the past two seasons. Coach Muro has high expectations for the season and says that she is looking forward to “helping the team grown on and off the field and being able to continue to share her love for the game.” Hitting close to home, Muro’s first cousin, Benni Tucci will be co-coaching with Muro. Tucci was also very successful as captain during her time at Norwalk High. Tucci was then named Female Rookie Athlete of the Year in 2023 after her freshman season with Western Connecticut State University. Coach Tucci tells us how she is excited to be back and involved in the program and how she is looking forward to watching her team grow confident and stronger in their abilities.

Norwalk Softball is looking to build a strong program on a fresh foundation while also carrying over there success from last season. The team will be playing there home games at Brien McMahon High School. Below is there schedule for the 2024 season. Good luck and Go Bears!
