Seniors Kaylie McCarthy and Maddie O’Briens Last Steps on The Field
Out of Bounds For Good

Kaylie and Maddie have both played Field Hockey their entire high school career. They are both great captains and leaders of the team. Their hard work and dedication reflect their love for the sport. As the season is wrapping up, they are taking in all of their last experiences as a Norwalk High athlete. It is a bittersweet moment, but they are sure to go far and do great things.
It is crazy to think of the amount of growth that these girls have made since stepping on the field as a Norwalk High athlete. Maddie O’Brien states, “I was so nervous the first day of tryouts, but since then I have learned so much and made so many great memories.” Kaylie also states, “I can’t believe I’m a senior already, and this was my last year playing. It was truly such a good opportunity that I will never forget.”
Although the team only had two seniors this year, the impact they made is unforgettable. The constant laughter in and out of practice, the devotion to the team, and even finding a way to make running the warm-up laps more fun. Regardless of what the scoreboard said, Maddie and Kaylie would always remind us to keep going and to keep giving it our all.
And of course, they could not have done it without their fantastic support system! Nicole O’Brien, Madison’s mom, shares her message to the seniors, “Thank you, seniors, for a wonderful four years. It has been a joy to watch you mature as players and as people. Never forget the lessons learned through this program. Never forget your teammates, your coaches, the ups and downs, and always carry the pride and the class of being a Norwalk High School field hockey player with you wherever you go in life! We know you will be successful in all that you do!”

Kaylie’s mom also states, “As you reflect on this season, remember that true Victory lies not in the scoreboard but in the unwavering dedication you’ve shown in the bonds you forged with one another. Your hard work and commitment have laid a foundation that will inspire future players. As captains, you’ve led with strength and integrity, teaching not just skills, but the importance of teamwork and perseverance. Embrace the lessons learned through challenges, for they will shape your character and guide you in all your future endeavors. Cherish the friendships and memories created on and off the field; these are the treasures that will stay with you long after the final whistle. Keep pushing forward and never underestimate the power of your influence as leaders!”
Through all the ups and downs of the season, our seniors went above and beyond to make the team the best it could be. Even though they will be leaving this chapter of their life behind, they will always be remembered. Thank you seniors! You will be missed!!
