With the Norwalk High Girl’s Soccer team season coming to an end, celebrating and highlighting the NHS seniors is our goal. Seniors Ava Oustafine, Sam Gerardi, Natalia Martinez, and Jennifer Delgado are one’s for the books. With most of them playing soccer since they were young, their dedication to the sport is evident. On behalf of norwalk high, thank you for your commitment and devotion to the team.

Senior Ava Oustafine has been a huge part of the Norwalk High girls varsity soccer team, known for her positive energy and leadership on and off the field. As a midfielder, she’s helped bring the team together through every game and challenge. When asked what being part of the team means to her, Ava said, “It’s more than just soccer, it’s a family. Every practice, every game, every bus ride has built something special between us.” Her teammates say she’s always the one cheering everyone up, keeping things fun even during tough practices. Ava describes this year’s team as “a sisterhood,” one built on trust, laughter, and support. As graduation approaches, Ava hopes her senior class will be remembered “for our heart, for giving it everything we had.” She plans to continue her education after high school and hopes to keep playing soccer, whether in college or on a club team. With her mom cheering her on every step of the way, Ava says she’s proud of how far she’s come and grateful for every moment in a Norwalk jersey.

Sam Gerardi plays as an outside back on the varsity team. She has been playing soccer since she was 4 years old alongside Ava. She says that since freshman year, she has grown in confidence the most. She said, “Soccer has taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience. On the field, I’ve learned how to push through challenges, and off the field, those lessons help me stay focused and confident in everything I do, even outside of sports.” She thinks the team was really close this year, similar to Ava, and agrees its been a family. Her parents and coaches have been her biggest supporters, in all of the highs and lows, and she thanks them for helping her improve to where she is today.
Senior Jennifer Delgado has made a strong impact on the Norwalk High girls varsity soccer team with her dedication, and team-first attitude. Playing for Jennifer has always been more than just a game, it’s a shared experience filled with laughter, hard work, and support. She says, “For me, being part of this team is an honor and an unforgettable experience.” The captains and teammates have always encouraged her to push herself and bring out the best in everyone around her, creating a team that’s truly united. “Your teammates will always be there to support you,” she reflected, showing how much she values the bonds she’s formed. With her mom and brothers cheering her on through every match, Jennifer knows she couldn’t have done it alone. After high school, she plans to continue her studies and keep soccer as a part of her life, carrying the lessons, friendships, and memories from Norwalk with her wherever she goes.

Natalia Martinez was a key part of the Norwalk High girls varsity soccer team. She was a great player and brought a lot of talent to the team. She was always giving her best for the Norwalk bears, wearing the number 6 jersey to represent who and what she’s playing for. She encouraged her team through the highs and the lows, making sure they were there to win, even though they had a rough season. Natalia Martinez will always be a part of the bear pack from on and off the field.
While the season didn’t go as planned, their dedication and teamwork has made soccer into the sport where they have not only become teammates, but friends, too. Thank you to our girls soccer seniors. As you kick the last ball, make the last goal, and hear the last whistle, we hope you treasure the memories you have made and use what you have learned in the next step of your life. We wish you the best!
