Entering his senior year, Kimani Jordan has aspirations to play basketball at the collegiate level. He has played basketball since 5th grade and has tried numerous sports, but he began to play basketball seriously entering his freshman year. Ending his senior season, he decided he wasn’t ready to be done just yet. Kimani picked up Outdoor track to end off his final sports season, not realizing where it would be taking him. Being the versatile athlete he is, he pushes himself, starting varsity for multiple years in basketball, running the 100 and 200, and competing in the high jump in track.
Kimani ended his senior year’s basketball season as a four-year varsity athlete and started for multiple seasons, only with an interest in wanting to pursue basketball as his sport. He has continued impacting the team, but now for outdoor track, qualifying for FCIAC’s in High Jump with a current personal best of 6’0 and running an 11.7 second 100m. His big decision to begin track this season came from the recommendations from coaches and just wanting to finish his senior year with an exciting sports season. Kimani continues to show his versatility and athleticism, as he showcases his newly discovered skills for this new sport he has picked up.
With his high school athletic career coming to a close, Kimani Jordan has found his new home for the next four. He will continue his athletic and academic career in Track at Western Connecticut, a DIII program. Kimani’s aspirations to play basketball at a college level changed, in the matter of what sport but he never stopped pursuing the idea. As the season continues, he will improve himself on the track and get himself collegiate-level ready. Although he has switched his sport, Kimani’s athletic drive and dedication remain the same as he enters the next level.
