“To see our team start playing more like a team” Tommy Benincaso said in an interview… as a player for Norwalk high School in a 2016 interview. Tommy played a crucial part of the ’16-’17 boys basketball season as well as being a standout catcher behind the plate for the baseball team. Tommy graduated and has now returned as a teacher and coach for boys basketball and baseball. Tommy teaches Algebra II after graduating from UCONN after playing baseball at Southern Conecticut and Eastern Connecticut state. Tommy picked up the save in Eastern’s division III national championship.
Coach Robert Notholt has been teaching at Norwalk High School for 4 years now. Notholt has done an excellent job at connecting with his players during the school day and on the courts after school. Notholt takes a 30 minute drive here and back every weekday during the school year to connect with his students and players. Coach Notholt was talking to us about how he enjoys the student-coach life and how “it’s easy in the building since I get to see all my athletes and call them in occasionally when both of our free times match up.”
Being a teacher-coach can be challenging so we give extreme gratitude toward Coach Benincaso and Coach Notholt for the contribution and gratitude they make to Norwalk High School.
