Seniors Final Lap

Seniors on the swim team start taking their last and final lap as the season comes to an end
Seniors Final Lap

This season, the Boys Swim & Dive team has had an outstanding season so far that they will never forget.  The team has just finished its eighth game against Ludlowe, and they are currently still undefeated this season and is looking to keep the streak going as they play their final game of the season on February 21, 4:15 at Greenwich High School.  There are currently seven seniors on the Boys Swim & Dive team Addison Asuncion, Naelan Brooks, Kevin Duarte, Elijah Florian, Anthony, Garcia-Reyes, Nicolas Mora (Team Captain) and Issac Zapata (Team Captain) and they are all getting ready to play their final home game of the season against Danbury on the 12th and then their final game against Greenwich.  It will definitely be an emotional next two games for them and they will figure out if they will continue their swimming career in college.

Boys Swim & Dive senior captains Issac Zapata had a lot to say about being a captain for the first time and what a season it’s been for them.  Issac said “As a captain of the team I’ve learned that leading a group is a big task that takes commitment but it’s easily done when it is something you’re very passionate about.  This was his first time being a team captain so he knew that it would take lot of commitment and responsibility, so he knew had to step up his game every practice.  He also said “It’s been amazing being undefeated with all the work we’ve put in and I was even able to reach one of my biggest accomplishments at shaving a lot of time in the 500 time and it is now a way better score than I had in December.”  He described the team as “A way group of hard workers that work their tail off and no matter how fast they already are, they consistently keep working hard and improve any way they can.”

Second team captain of the team, Nico Mora, also said that “I’ve learned a lot from being a team captain.  From leadership, role model skills and much more, I’ve learned what true responsibility truly means.”  Nico was also loving the feeling of the team being undefeated  but he said “We must keep the same energy that we have right now to the FCIACS and States, so that we can get much further and win our first ever championship.”  This season he was 2nd in the state for swimming, which was his biggest accomplishment he’s ever had.  While the team being undefeated and being a team captain, Nico said “I’ve really improved on my team bonding while being a captain, and overall my swimming with all the outstanding coaches that we have.”
