Growing up as a baseball fan, before watvhing this movie I never knew that there had been a womens baseball league here in America. This movie is based off a true story that took place during World War II when the men were serving in the war. Major League Basbeall was in a crisis so they had turned to the women in order financially survive during this time.

In summary, a scout goes to Oregon and finds two sisters, Dottie and Kit Keller. One that can hit and catch and one that can pitch. They go back to Chicago for tryouts with many other hopefull woman. The team, called the Rockford Peaches is also looking for a coach. They choose Jimmy Dugan who is played by Tom Hanks. He is portraying a once great baseball player who’s life was ruined by alcoholism. The team ends up going throughout the season and making it to the World Series where they play againts the Racine Belles. At the end of the movie, they flash forward in time and it is all the players when they are older with there families at the grand opening of the woman’s baseball history museum in Cooperstown, New York.

Watching this movie puts life during this time into a whole new perspective. Not only that, seeing the team come together throughout the movie was something very fun to exeperience. Each player/actress has there own personality and that is so evident as we go throughout. Also seeing the evolution of Jimmy as a coach adds a lot to the movie because it really show cases the bonds that were created and how the movie is a real example of love throughout hard times. I love this movie because it not only showcases a sport that I love but it does a great job of bringing you back in time to this period of World War II and giving us a real experience of a woman during this time whos husband was serving our country.

Another great aspect of this movie is the way that they embody the woman. Especially during this time it was a male dominant period, but they do a great job of showing how strong woman had to be and what that means looking back at the impact that they had on young woman today who have similar goals in life.

I would give this movie a solid 8.5/10. I would reccomend this movie to any young woman who is passionate about sports and women in sports or anyone that cares about sports that is looking for an exciting watch!
