At the beginning of the 2024 Fall Season, the Girls Field Hockey Team’s goals, like many other teams, was to the make the FCIAC and State Tournaments. Now, as the regular season comes to an end the girls accomplished just that and enter the playoffs with a record of 8-8.
Captain Maddy Yusi says, “to start we had such a young and unexperienced team but all season long, all of the underclassmen came to practice eager to learn and really pushed themselves to be better everyday.”
When we asked sophomore Gianna Testa about her experience playing field hockey this season and how the seniors have helped her, she said, “this was my first year on varsity and when I heard my name called for the starting lineup I was so nervous. Once the whistle blew and we started playing I had no clue how much faster the game was and it took me a little bit to adjust. But I think being surrounded by so many talented seniors that talked to me on the field, told me what to do and where to go, really helped and boosted my confidence.”
In regards to the 2024 senior class, Coach Seaburg adds, “tradition never graduates and this group epitomizes that philosophy. My goal is when the seniors come back to watch a game or practice, that they see a reflection of themselves, their work ethic, and dedication in another player. The idea of the task this season was to reach the goals we’ve set and expectations we have while bringing along a very young team and being able to watch that on a daily basses has been inspirational.”
The team wouldn’t be where they are if not for the seniors’ hard work put into the team, building connections on and off the field as well as pushing each other to be each others best. With the seniors last season coming to its end, the underclassmen thank them.
