The Norwalk High Football team practices five days a week every afternoon to prepare to take on a different team every Saturday. They start off their practice with a team warmup that includes dynamic stretching and light conditioning to get their hearts racing.
Once they’re done warming up they break off into groups based off of position which they call Indi (individuals). They have a huge coaching staff with adults from both inside and outside of the school building. These coaches have specific positions they’re in charge of. This approach of coaching allows special focus on each player themselves and allows more space for improvement.
After indi they go into the pass under pressure drill. Pass under pressure is the offense against the defensive line and line backers. The offenses job is to block the defense from getting to the quarter back. The team then practices kick off and kick returns. They end practice with what they call team, which overall is offense versus defense
At 5 o’clock practice is over and they huddle as a team in the middle of the field. The head coach lets them know if they had a good practice or not and if he believes they worked hard. The overall purpose of this speech is to get prepared for the game. They then break and depending on the day of the week go back to the school to either watch film from previous games or continue their practice in the weight room.
