Last Thursday, the Norwalk High Girls Field Hockey team went into a game against St. Joseph with winning aspirations, and that’s exactly what they did. But it wasn’t easy. Midway through the 3rd quarter, the Bears were trailing 1-0. It had been a defense slug fest with multiple opportunities to score, but the Bears were being stunted by a tough St. Joe’s defense. But in came Captain Kaelyn Fogelson, shifting through the defenders and being able to come up with a big score nearing the end of the 3rd quarter.
Kaelyn was able to tie it up, but this doesn’t mean the game was over. The defensive battle continued all the way till the end of the 4th Quarter. The Bears knew the game plan going into overtime. Score. They became more daring in their plays and began tiring out the St. Joe’s Defense which was already depleted after playing 4 full quarters. The Bears never gave up however, and when it mattered most, Captain Avery Vaccaro was able to score, giving the Bears the 2-1 victory in overtime!
