As the Winter sports season comes to a close, the 2023-24 Norwalk High School Indoor Track Team proved to have a successful season this year. On Thursday February 1st, both the girls and the boys teams competed at the FCIAC championship.
We sat down with Mr. Moffett and got some details on the meet and the season as a whole.
The boys team as a whole placed seventh, and three individuals on the team took home their own FCIAC championship titles. In shot put, captain Dito Torres took home first with a personal best, with his teammate Saul Liles coming in right behind him at second place. Senior captain Henry Wilkins also showed an impressive effort, coming in first place and breaking his previous personal best in the long jump. The girls team also placed seventh in the final standings. Senior captain, Layla Roberts brought home first place in the high jump event and fourth in the long jump.
As we talked to Coach Moffett, he let us know how excited he is for the outdoor season and next years track seasons!
Coach Moffett says “It’s always exciting when your kids come to a championship meet and they all have their personal best times or distances. So it was a very memorable FCIAC championship!”
Thank you to Mr. Moffett for contributing to our story and congratulations to the athletes on the indoor track team for their performance at the FCIAC Tournament.
