SoNo’s Best Cuban Spot
The finest Cuban restaurant in Norwalk
Have you ever wanted to try Cuban food? One of my new favorite spots in Norwalk. This restaurant is located in the Norwalk SoNo mall in the food court. This restaurant has a diverse menu that can fit whatever liking you have. Soul de Cuba café serves lunch bowls, sandwiches, snacks, salads, burgers, desserts, kid meals, empanadas, and refreshing drinks. This restaurant opens at 11:30 to 6:45/ 7:45.
When I first walked toward the restaurant it was very quiet and saw that there was a small but spacious seating area by the stand. I looked across the menu and saw that the foods that they offered were slightly expensive but looked tasty. I ordered a veggie empanada for $5, a pineapple drink for $3, Tres leche (dessert) for $7, and a Cuban sandwich for $13. The total came out to 28.95. I waited 10-15 minutes for all my food.
When you first get your food, it’s steaming and freshly made. The empanada was small, somewhat oily, and smelt really good. I took a bite into the veggie empanada and kind of burnt my tongue. It was crispy with a flavorful filling. It tasted a little sweeter than savory but was still really good. I washed it down with the pineapple drink. It tasted very refreshing, almost like it was freshly pressed with just ice. I then got to the Cuban sandwich, which I got my friend to try. It was a reasonable size and she explained that the sandwich was really good and it was worth the $13. It was then time for dessert. Tres Leche! This cake originated from Mexico and was one of my favorites. This cake wasn’t as moist and creamy, but it still tasted really good. The only downside is that it didn’t have any toppings like strawberry. It also wasn’t too sweet or bland.
As this being my first Cuban restaurant encounter in Norwalk, I would rate it a 4.3 out of 5. Go and try out the Soul de Cuba café, as it’s an experience I believe everyone should have!
