Norwalk Girls Field Hockey Defeat Crosstown Rivals

Field Hockey takes home the cup.

Home+game+vs+Mcmahon

In this irregular year with the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has affected many people all over, especially school sports. High school sports teams have made changes in their setup and play time. High school field hockey teams have been cut up to 10 games playing 4 quarters with 15 minutes and no time-outs.

The Lady Bears first game of the season against the Senators at Testa Field was an astonishing way to open up their season with a win, while also including their Senior night. Senior Captain, Lia L’Archevesque, scoring 3 goals, Tessa Albrecht and Gemma Warde each scoring 1 ending the night with a 5-0 score in their first game on October 1. Norwalk’s Goalie, Sophia Taiyanides did an amazing job not letting any balls fly past her. Senior captain, Briana Muro, and Alexandra Butler both playing hard defense restricting the time the ball was on their side of the field. This helped Taiyanides have an unchallenged game while in goal.

Norwalk’s 2nd game against McMahon at Jack Casagrande Field, October 7th, was another great win for our Ladies. Senior Captain, Tessa Albrecht and Hailey Roy both putting up 2 goals on the scoreboard for Norwalk ending the night with a 2-0 against their rivals. Taiyanides had an effortless time in goal because of Norwalk’s amazing offense line-up. We saw great plays by both teams and great Sportsmanship. Stay tuned for next weeks games the Lady Bears against Danbury’s Hatters.
