On the Job with Masa!
Meet Norwalk High’s one and only Masa!
Norwalk High’s athletic trainer, Masayoshi Shoji, graduated Stony Brook University in 2010 and the Sacred Heart Athletic Training Education Program. Masa has been with Innovative Health & Rehabilitation since 2010 and has been the Head Athletic Trainer at Norwalk High School since 2011. He has grown a strong bond with his athletes and describes his relationship with them as “serious, relaxed, and sarcastic.” Masa believes that Norwalk High is unique because it’s his “first job straight out of college and athletic training.” He also mentioned that his favorite part of his job is, “being able to watch the process of the player getting injured, to the recovery, and then finally getting back onto the field playing again.” Sophomore basketball player, Jaylen Brown, describes him as passionate and thoughtful and tells us, “Masa helps me get through my injuries in a safe way and reassures me that I am okay.”
