A Start to a Long Awaited Season
Watch the video to see what some of our Boys Basketball seniors are doing to prepare for the upcoming season.
As the Norwalk High School Boys Basketball team gears up for their season, they are faced with several challenges that have obstructed their season to begin but are looking to overcome and persevere.
Although their season has been continuously pushed back due to Covid-19 restrictions, the boys basketball team is finally allowed to start their games beginning on February 9th. Since this season has been pushed back along with current Covid-19 guidelines, the CIAC approved a 12 game season. Due to sports being indoors in the winter, masks must be worn at all times, benches will be socially distanced, there will be portable hand washing stations for the players and staff of the teams, and there are no spectators allowed at any games. Mr. Marchetti, NHS Athletic Director, is happy these players will go out there and compete, despite the lack of crowd culture and the Bear Pack at these events. The games will be live streamed on locallive for all to see.
The Bears are looking forward to going into this season strong. Mr. Marchetti emphasized that he was happy to see our teams adapting so well to certain setbacks during the fall season. He went on to say, “I am so proud of all of our teams, coaches especially, of their ability to adjust on the fly… we are hoping to implement the same thing in the winter as well.” For the approaching sports season, athletes are already getting out, running, and planning as best as possible for their 2021 season.
