Jaxon’s Ermo has been playing baseball for 13 years. He started playing T-ball when he was 4 and as time went on he fell in love with the sport. His dad inspired him to play and keep him motivated to keep going even went things were frustrating. As Jaxon walked on the baseball field for tryouts as a freshman he worked hard to prove something and prepared for this moment. He made varsity as a freshman and has been on varsity every since.
Jaxon’s main goal was to get looked at by different colleges and hopefully play in college. Well he can check that off his list because Jaxon is going the play D1 baseball at Iona University. The recruiting process for Jaxon was really hard and stressful. “I knew it would be tough because there were so many good players, and every game felt super important, like a tryout where one mistake could hurt my chances.” He talk to many college that were interested in him. It was stressful finding the right school and making sure the school was right for him. But Jaxon kept working hard, stayed patient, and in the end Jaxon found the right school for him.
As Jaxon little sister I always saw how hard he worked to achieve this goal. He was always the kid to do stuff everyday to get better and better to improve to play at the next level. A memory I will always remember is how Jaxon and I went outside and had a catch. From our parents point of view Jaxon always had a loving passion for baseball. It made them happy to watch him and succeed in it. My parents played a big part of helping my brother achieve his goals and help him make his decision on what college to go to. “We spent alot over the years traveling around to showcase and different camps to get Jaxon noticed.” We are all very proud of Jaxon and watching him grow his love for the sport of baseball and we also can’t wait to watch him at the next level and see all the hard work pay off.
To Jaxon the hardest part of baseball was dealing with the mental side.”As I walk someone or miss a strike or strike out I always put myself down but I learned over the years to keep a positive mind set and not let the little things bring me down but to make me strong for my team.”He worked hard everyday, goes to school, practice, and also talk to coaches which took a lot of time and energy. Jaxon would felt like he was dong everything right to make sure he got where he needed to be but it was hard and frustrated because he would do all this and sometime did’t get noticed.
Some superstition Jaxon has are to go to Dunkin Donuts and get the same meal which is a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, a chocolate chip muffin, and a celsius. Other superstition he has are to eat the purple skittles bag and he also keep two quarters in his right shorts pocket. Jaxon is very excited to play baseball at Iona and learn new skill in college to improve him as a player and as a person.
