With the 2024/25 Norwalk High Basketball season coming up for men boys basketball we are going to take a deep dive into Norwalk High Schools top 3 best mens basketball performances of all time. Number one we have Jaylen Brown, he dropped 54 points on Greenwich on a tragic loss in double overtime. Brown said his first points came on a jump shot. He made other of his 17 field goals that night, out of 28 attempts, just four came from 3-point range on five attempts. He shot 16 of 18 from the free-throw line that night. becoming second in Norwalk high boys basketball after the great Calvin Murphy before the games Jaylen told reporters that his pre game is eating chicken cutlets and listening to Gospel music and praying
Next we have Joey Benincaso. He had a career night against Westhill High School by scoring a career high 37 points and tying the state record with 9 three pointers and a road trip win. Joey states that “I’m a shooter. I need to hit shots” he says he tried to find the open spots In the defense. Joey went 6-6 from the foul line. He finished the first half with 16 points and 21 in the second. Westhill came out at halftime with a 13-0 run to tie the game 40-40. With 2 minutes left Joey hit 2 clutch three pointers to quiete the crowd. He ended the game and led Norwalk to a win 65-56 in a big time fciac win.
last but not least we have Calvin Murphy. Murphy averaged 40 points his highschool senior year leading his team to the towns first every CIAC Class L state championship Calvin states that ” Eighteen feet from the basket and foul line extended was my spot.” He dropped a career High and state record of 63 points vs New Cannan shooting 19/24 from the field with NO 3 pointers this was very impressive for somebody that was 5 foot 9.
Out of all the NHS players in history we chose these 3 because we felt they had the best performance all time and people still talk about what they did and accomplished.
