Girls volleyball goes home happy
October 23, 2020
On October 20th the Norwalk Bears played the Wilton Warriors at Wilton High. Norwalk took the first set 25-21. They had an early lead in this set with a 5-1 lead thanks to Devon Wilkins who had 3 points and 1 dig throughout the stretch, which caused Wilton to call a timeout. The set was very close and got to the scores of 18-18 and 21-21 but after that, the Bears scored 4 consecutive points to close the first set. Wilton won the second set 26-24 which had to have an extra point played because the set reached a win by 2 situation. In the third set, the Bears were playing from behind as they took an early 7-2 deficit until Isabella Arvanitis served for 5 points to make the game 9-7. The Bears stuck in the game but almost had a big deficit at 13-17. Isabella Arvanitis then served another several points to make things close again forcing Wilton to call a timeout at 20-17. After that timeout, the Bears went off with a little help from Chloe Zurkowski who scored 2 clutch points including the set winner to finish the set at 25-21. The last set was excellent to watch after the Bears took a lead and ran with it until the end of the set where they won by 7 points making the final score of the set 25-17. This was a great and well-deserved win by the team and they worked for everything they were given on the court.
